Handling 13 million passengers, 2.4 million freight vehicles and £100 billion of UK/European trade, the port of Dover not only supports 22,000 jobs to the local community but also provides education engagement programs to logistics enthusiasts.

Just this year, Dover has welcomed future logistics professionals from the University of Greenwich as part of its on-going partnership with the University’s MA in Logistics Transport and Supply Chain Management Consultancy programme.

Mentored by the Port’s Business Development Manager Jason Ransley, the students were able to learn about how the organization keep the port of Dover and the UK economy up and moving.

The port of Dover is also working closely with young people through its Youth Engagement Scheme (YES) to increase knowledge and skills in the maritime industry.

Dover has facilitated the education partnership program since 2011. This course has enable students to develop their abilities in several key areas in the design and implementation of supply chain management strategies within different environments. The program also served as an avenue for the students to apply their academic knowledge and practical skills in supply chain management and logistics.
