As we get closer to the 2015 X2 Conference and X2 Logistics Networks reaches different stages in its development and continues its emergence has leader and market disruptor. It is time that the members of X2 Elite, X2 Projects, X2 Cold Chain, and X2 Movers begin to look at themselves and at their organizations and question themselves. Everyone, even the most simple of humans has an inner philosopher within their mind. it’s now time for the members of X2 Logistics Networks to tap into their inner Socrates and question themselves.
“Question thyself.â€
-Socrates
One of the first questions every member should ask themselves is if they’re doing regular business with the members. Some might not answer yes. But, there are a few reasons to that. Have you contacted members? Does anyone know ho you are? Do you keep finding yourself being told that your rates are too high? There can be so many reasons and all of which require their own analysis.
Also, have you shifted any business to your respective X2 network? This causes a follow on question if answered negatively, and that question is, “Why haven’t you?†You can just join a network and expect riches to flow your way. It rakes effort and attention to maximize benefits and to build relationships.
How many networks are you in? There are some members that have well over 5 networks in their signature? Is that something to be proud of? For some, perhaps. Sometimes it’s better to have quality over quantity and this is another question each freight forwarder with such signatures that need to ask themselves. That question is, “Are these quality networks?†It’s likely that many of them aren’t and don’t care about the performance or well being of their members. This is where X2 is different.
There are two other major and connected questions that you should ask yourself. The first question, that is also integral for the follow on examination is, “What do I want from the network?†For many the answer will be more business. That’s easy then, members need to be more active. Sitting and waiting won’t make business come to you just because you’re here. No, you need to get out there and let the network. know who you are and become a known and respected member representing your market.
Now, for the follow up; “How do I make the network work for me?†Well, that is a bit question and for each individual member this will have a different answer. But, it has an answer. How you reach the answer to the question is only through questioning yourself and your organization. Peel back the layers and find the core, and from there you can discover the answer to this question.
